Should I book flights with my tour or book them independently?What are the main benefits of booking flights with EF Go Ahead Tours (GAT)? Convenience: They handle all booking logistics. Included Transfers: Airport-to-hotel transfers are included on standard arrival/departure days. Support: 24/7 support, especially if tour changes impact flights. Price Security: Lock in your flight price when booking. Payment Plan: Flight costs can be added to your interest-free AutoPay. Major Airlines: They use established international carriers. What are the main benefits of booking my own flights? Control: Choose your preferred airline, flight times, and specific seats (often earlier). Loyalty Programs: Easily use or earn frequent flier miles/status benefits or use credit card points. Flexibility: Potentially easier to manage complex pre/post tour travel or find specific fares. When will I know my flight details?After booking our airfare package, you can check the status of your flight itinerary in your online account and mobile app. If you have any questions or preferences for your flights, please submit a request. You'll receive an email notification once your flight itinerary is finalized, between 85 to 60 days before departure. From that point forward, you can view your flight details in your account and the Go Ahead app. Airlines can make schedule changes, so we highly recommend confirming all flight information with your airline and opting in to notifications about any schedule updates.

Which airlines do you use?All round-trip air travel for our tours is booked on regularly scheduled flights with major international airlines. We don’t partner with no-frills airlines. If there’s a certain airline you’d like to fly with, let us know. Call us to speak to a travel expert who will look into available flight itinerary options.

How do you choose my flights?We have an in-house Flights Team that’s 100% dedicated to getting you to and from your tour smoothly. When airlines release their schedules—about a year out from your tour’s departure date—our Flights Team gets to work finding the best itinerary for you. (Thanks to EF’s global network and our partnerships with top airlines, there may be multiple to choose from.) If you don’t have any flight preferences, we'll select the best available option from your departure city. This itinerary can be viewed in your online account and mobile app 85 to 60 days before your trip. Already booked on a tour and want to share your flight preferences? Can I add flights after I book my tour?Yes, in most cases. If you’re ready to reserve your tour but still deciding what to do about flights, that’s okay! As long as you decide by your Tour Finalization Date (either 70 or 90 days before departure depending on your trip), adding our airfare package is as easy as giving us a call.

Can I earn or redeem airline miles?While you’ll often earn frequent flier miles with our airfare package, we can’t guarantee mileage accrual with all airlines as policies vary. Once your flights are booked, you can add your frequent flier number directly through the airline's website or mobile app. If you’re having trouble adding your frequent flier details, send us a message and we can try to update your reservation on our end. We’re unable to accept airline miles as payment for our airfare package. Instead, we negotiate flight prices directly with airlines to get you the best rate.

What if my travel plans change?Add AnyReason Protection from Go Ahead Tours, and you can cancel any time prior to checking in for your first scheduled flight and receive a voucher to rebook your tour. AnyReason covers flights booked with us, too, so you can book your trip and flights 100% worry-free.

Can I pick my seat?Picking that perfect seat is important, and we'll make general seat requests (such as window or aisle) whenever possible as part of your airfare package. In most cases, you must contact the airline directly to select seats once your flights have been fully ticketed, typically between 45 and 30 days before departure. Some airlines only allow you to make seat requests within 24 hours of departure, while others may charge a fee for advanced seating assignments. Seating is fully controlled by the airline and subject to change up until your departure. If you’re already booked on tour and want to share a general seating preference, submit a flight request to our team and we’ll notify the airline on your behalf when possible. We recommend reconfirming your seats with the airline directly closer to your departure date.

Can I get a direct flight from my departure city?Direct flights are not guaranteed or even available from all departure cities. If you’re interested in the most direct routings for your tour, submit a flight request to our team. Please note that additional costs may apply.

Can I choose my own flight itinerary?We offer a variety of flight options on many of our tours, tailored to meet your unique preferences and requests. Whether you have a preferred airline, would like specific routing, or wish to upgrade your flight experience, we’re here to help! Can I upgrade to Premium Economy or Business Class?Consider upgrading your flights for a more luxurious travel experience! Business Class and Premium Economy upgrades are available on select flights for an additional cost. Can I meet up with a friend before an international flight?Meeting up with your travel companion is a possibility for some gateways at an additional cost. Please keep in mind there are limited options available for this type of request. Can you arrange transfers if I book my own flight?Airport transfers are only included with Go Ahead’s airfare package. If you’ve changed your mind about flying on your own and would like to take advantage of all the perks included in our flights package, please submit a flight request to our team.

I'm worried about the food in Scotland, are there going to be good options for dining?That's a common concern, but rest assured, you absolutely won't starve in Scotland– far from it! While haggis gets a lot of attention (and many travelers report actually enjoying it!), Scotland's food scene is incredibly diverse and delicious. Fellow travelers consistently rave about their experiences. You'll find everything from excellent pub food (hearty soups, fish and chips) and fresh seafood (especially salmon!) to a wide variety of international cuisines in the cities.
